Mobility in IPv6: Standards and Upcoming Trends
نویسندگان
چکیده
This review presents current mobility extensions of IPv6 as designed to create a realtime compliant, secure mobile Internet. Starting from Mobile IPv6, the basic end-to-end mobility managment protocol, we discuss performace and security issues, as well as recent improvements to enhance mobility operations within the next generation Internet protocol.

Mobile IP is the current standard proposed by IETF for mobility management in IP networks. Mobile node communicating with static correspondent node (CN) has been considered in previous performance studies. We propose the mobility of CN and two additional mobility combinations for Mobile IP in this paper. CN mobility causes performance degradation in an environment with frequent handoffs. A new ...

The theme of this thesis is the advancement of IP mobility management mechanisms to support robustly the delay requirements of interactive IP applications services. Current IPv6 mobility management standards are heavily dependent on reactive manipulations of the IP handoff process. Such modus operandi appears to be insufficient to address delay transparency during interactive IP communications....

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has worked on network layer mobility for more than 10 years and a number of RFCs are available by now. Although the IETF mobility protocols are not present in the Internet infrastructure as of today, deployment seems to be imminent since a number of organizations, including 3GPP, 3GPP2 and Wimax, have realized the need to incorporate these protocols in...
متن کاملFlow-based fast handover for mobile IPv6 environment - implementation and analysis
Mobility Support in IPv6 (MIPv6) has been approved by the Internet Engineering Task Force as the standardized solution for mobility management in the upcoming IPv6 network. However, theMIPv6 handover procedures result in a time, when theMobile Node (MN) cannot receive or send data. In this paper we present the Flow-based Fast Handover for Mobile IPv6 (FFHMIPv6) for fast redirection of the MN’s ...
